Did you know:-
The actual word Christmas is a contraction of Christ’s Mass in old English.
“Silent Night” was written by an Austrian Priest Joseph Mohr in 1818.
St Francis of Assisi introduced Christmas Carols to formal church services. He also introduced the Christmas crib & nativity plays to Christmas celebrations.
The common abbreviation for Christmas to Xmas is derived from the Greek alphabet. X is letter Chi, which is the first letter of Christ’s name in the Greek alphabet.
The 26th of December was traditionally known as St Stephens Day but is more commonly known as Boxing Day. The expressing came about as during the festive season money was collected in aims-boxes placed in churches. After Christmas the money was distributed to the poor & needy.
Angels play an important role in Christmas celebrations. Angels feature in many Christmas Carols such as Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Gabriels message, Angels from the realms of glory, Angels we have heard on high & the Angels song. Angels feature in nativity scenes, Christmas decorations & on Christmas cards.
Archangel Gabriel is the heavenly ‘Angel of Christmas’.
Wishing all my readers a very Merry & Angelic Christmas. May 2010 bring you great joy & peace.
I look forward with excitement to launching my latest Angelic project in January or February 2010.
Angel Blessings Always
